REVAMPED REDS
Liverpool's new look for the 2025/26 season.
If you thought Liverpool would sit on their laurels after winning the league last season, think again. The Reds have only gone ahead and bolstered their team. Losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid was not encouraging for ‘pool fans but they have a more than capable replacement in Jeremie Frimpong. It also looks like their legendary left-back, Andrew Robertson, is on his way out of the club. Not to worry though Reds’ fans, Hungarian star-boy Milos Kerkez is on his way to Merseyside.
The signing of wonderkid Florian Wirtz has naturally taken over the headlines. Wirtz, who departed from Bayer Leverkusen after 4.5 years, is poised to bolster Liverpool's already formidable attack. He is the club record signing, joining for €116 million. Flo is a technically gifted player with excellent close control. He is a creative player with a high football IQ, and is a mater problem solver in the final third of the pitch. Wirtz has a strike on him too, scoring a couple of bangers from distance in the past. His vision on the pitch is unbelievably good. A great bonus is that he is a versatile player who can play off the left but shines brighter as an attacking midfielder down the middle.

What Liverpool needs to do is find a striker who’d frequently contribute to the goals. The striker market is currently not at its best, with top bagsmen being a rare find. Either that or they’re overpriced. Alternatively, they could rely on Diogo Jota and hope that his injury fortunes change. Still, they need depth in the striker position, as it’s being rumoured that Darwin Nunez is on the market.
The signings Liverpool have made are a clear statement to the Premier League and the rest of Europe that they are not done just yet. It goes to show that they are hungry for more success. If their recruitments succeed, that just means the Reds will be a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future. I’m sure it will be an interesting season to come for the boys from Merseyside.
