THE PREM'S HEATING UP
Exciting times for the new Premier League season
For the longest time, the Premier League hasn’t been as exciting as in its prime years. The competition for the title hasn’t been stiff, with Manchester City winning the league 4 years in a row as the favorites in all those seasons. Even when City didn’t win the league, the other champions, Liverpool, have walked the league both times they’ve won it. The relegation scrap has also not seen many surprises either. Most years, the three teams promoted to the Premier League have dropped back to the Championship. And when that’s not been the case, there’s been an odd survivor here and there.
The transfer activity of the summer of 2025 is showing promising signs of change, at least with regard to the title challenge. A lot of teams are bolstering their squads, and it looks like things are going to heat up. Liverpool, the defending champions, are making statement deals in the transfer window. They’ve already added Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong to their already star-studded side. They are also looking for a striker, with their eyes set on either Alexander Isak or Hugo Ekitike. Manchester City are looking to get back to being champions. Their additions will be key in their charge to this goal. Cherki, Reijnders, and Rodri’s return would make a world of difference. Arsenal are also looking to find their missing puzzle pieces. Quality squad depth is something they’ve lacked for years now. The Gunners have needed a striker for a couple of seasons, and it seems as if they're going all out for Viktor Gyokeres to solve that. Adding Zubimendi to their midfield and Mosquera to their list of defenders is also going to be key.
Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, and Villa haven’t been in the title races for a long time. All these clubs are making strides to try and pip City and Liverpool to the title. Fresh off the Club World Cup win, Chelsea looks like an interesting side going into the new season. Their squad is finally gelling together, and they still have great additions coming in. The Blues have brought in Kendry Paez, Estevao, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and Joao Pedro to add to their squad. Spurs are also looking good going into the season with well-needed additions, Kudus and Gibbs-White. Newcastle have added Elanga from Forest and intend on keeping Isak and adding Ekitike to their attack. Villa are still yet to make any signings, but their squad is well equipped to mount a challenge.
The quality from the rest of the pack is also promising to ensure that none of the predicted favorites don’t make light of the league. Whilst they may not win it themselves, they can at least make the league worth watching and winning.
The 2025/26 season is surely going to be one for the books.

With every team fortifying their sides we can only look forward to a mesmerizing performance from them.As a Cityzen fan I sure hope that we'll be able to pull off a great comeback and turn tables.
